Parts Needed to Finish Concours Restoration

Trying to get my late '67 BJ8 up to snuff for Concours judging.

I need the following original parts:

Jack and handle

Tools and pouch

Correct horns..not the Moss aftermarket ones that have the wrong terminals.  Correct horns have four terminals on the rear horn and two on the front.

Set of Spark Plug end boots.  These are the 90 degree boots with Champion logo embossed into them.

Any condition, will pay top price for correct parts.  Can send photos of the RIGHT STUFF if interested.  Any members with leads on where to look for these items, please contact me.

BJ7-BJ8 healey needed to fit hardtop

I just bought a hardtop from a member and need someone who has a BJ7 or BJ8 under restoration without the ragtop and frames. I do need the door glass panels and windshield in place in order to see that this top fits towards the back of the rear frame. I am in the process of restoring this top with a new  rear window. if this top requires to much modification or fits an earlier model i will put it back up for sale. Cell phone 310-994-0113

bj8 jack

My '67 bj8 came without a tire jack. Any ideas? A scissor jack was suggested, but the ones I've seen seem to be too high profile. Help!!!!!!!!!

Rusty Nut and Deep Throat.

Deep Throat socket

Ok, I know the title sounds like a seventies B-movie title.  After a couple of weeks of thinkering on this website I needed to get my hands dirty and attacked a little car project I had on my workbench, which became more involved as it usually does...

Healey Radios

My original radio no longer works and I'm curious what other members have done.  I've seen a web-link to a guy in pA who rebuilds original radios and I see Moss has one for sale.  Have most guys just installed a newer updated radio or have they hidden the new one and left the original in place, or updated the original/  Any guidance would be appreciated or just comments of what you see in club cars.

Dieseling

Hi AHA members,

Ever since I had my engine rebored about 5 years ago, I have experienced pretty bad and erratic dieseling of my 1967 BJ8. I have had several local Healey mechanics check this out, including the ones that did the engine job, to no avail. Timing, carburetors, spark plugs were all checked. I also tried an octane booster, still no luck. However, sometimes on the same trip, the engine would inexplicably turn off just fine, while the next attempt to stop the engine would prove to be a real challenge.

Cooling Problems

We're planning a Tech Session in 2009 on cooling problems, which plagues Healey owners, especially in warm climates like Southern California.    It will address potential causes such as the thermostat, radiator, and air flow.  Potential solutions will be discussed, such as radiator size, radiator fluid, push fans, pull fans, oil coolers and vents.

If you have had cooling problems, please respond to this blog with your symptoms and solutions.  If you would like to contribute to this tech session, please let me or George McHarris know.
