From the Vice President

Published on 11/1/2016

Last month I asked the question “Got Stuff” in relation to the recent All British Swap Meet which was held on October 22. I am happy to report that the event was a great success with many vendors from as far away as Washington State and including San Diego and the Inland Empire and dozens and dozens of buyers. I am not sure anyone left with less “stuff” than they came with, but we all left with different stuff. I sold a Pertronix distributor, some K&N filters and a newish electric fuel pump and immediately “reinvested” my new found wealth in a gas powered pressure washer being offered by another seller. Good deal by all around! Hopefully next year we’ll be able to attract more Healey parts sellers (there were plenty of buyers) to make the event more interesting for our Club.

Please note that signups are now open for our Holiday Party. You’ll find a form in this newsletter for mail in registration, or just go to the website and click on the event calendar to sign up on line. Thanks to Member George Merino, who is a member at the Shoreline Yacht Club, we’ve got a great deal on offer this year….$25 per person for a wonderful meal with wine included. Please sign up now so you don’t forget.

Now on to 2017. Somehow Mike Scroggie has talked me in to remaining on as Activities Director for another year. I am happy to do the job, but sometimes feel we are simply repeating the past year’s lineup of events. There’s nothing wrong with “tried and true”, but that shouldn’t deter us from trying new things from time to time. That’s where YOU come in. I need your ideas, your event sugestions and/or just your input on the kinds of things you would like to do. Drop me a line or corner me at an event and let’s talk about your ideas. I promise I won’t try to rope you in to running the event you suggest!

Now that, for better or worse, the Holidays are upon us once again, I want to thank all of you that have helped out with events this year, who have been kind enough to compliment my efforts and most of all, those who have attended. Nothing makes the job more fulfilling than a full house of happy people at an event.
