Saturday, Aug 7 - Annual Ice Cream Social and Make-A-Wish Fundraiser
This is our yearly charitable drive for the Make a Wish Foundation. As in the past we have dedicated the drive and money collected to the Make a Wish Foundation to answer the needs and wishes of those less fortunate than ourselves with urgent medical issues. Please make every effort to join us on the once a year charitable drive.
The Ice Cream Social will once again feature a drive to Mt. Baldy. We plan to meet at Denny's (546 West Baseline Rd Glendora) for a 9:00 AM breakfast Saturday morning;
If you cannot get up in time for breakfast, join us at 10:30 AM where we will depart from Denny's parking lot for the drive up Glendora Mt. Road to our destination Mount Baldy Lodge. The drive is at least an hour over a winding mountain road. This should be a great work out for the cars and the drivers. Upon arrival at the Lodge we plan an hour to hour and half stay with opportunity to dine or explore the Lodge prior to our departure on or about 1:15 PM. Our drive back down the mountain along Mt. Badly Road will lead us to Handel’s Ice Cream Shop at 373 South Mountain Ave. in Upland. As a special treat we have arranged for a short stop ar Kurt Tanner's shop in Upland to view final preparations for a healey destined for Monterey and the auctions. After our afternoon delights we can easily catch our freeway as Handel’s is centrally located near the 210, 57 or 10 freeways.
Details for our contributions-
1-Make a pledge for the miles driven during the event from start location in Glendora to Mount Baldy and onto the ice cream venue in Upland. Miles can be calculated from Map Quest or Goggle Maps.
2. Get a few friends to sponsor your miles to increase your donation. Mail your contributions to Peter Roses, 5132 Ocean View Blvd., La Canada Ca 91011. Cut off day will be August 20th for the donations.
