From the Vice President

The First LA Classic Auto Show is just around the corner, and the publicity is starting to get pretty interesting. If you haven’t heard, the Show will be held at the LA Convention Center from January 27-29. There should be hundreds, if not thousands, of sports cars, classics, customs and the like on display, with over thirty car clubs, including the Healey Club, involved.

The show is sponsored by the Velocity Channel, and all their stars will be there....Mike Brewer, Wayne Carini, Dave Kindig, Chip Fosse and more.

Each of them will be presenting on the live stage and (for an extra fee) you can have a meet and greet and photo op with your favorites. In addition to the car show there will be miles of exhibitors pedaling all manner of automotive stuff and even a large swap meet area.

The Club has a 20’ x 50’ display booth where we will show off five Healeys and have a hospitality area.

This will be a great chance to meet prospective members and grow the Club. Saturday the 28th will be Healey Club Day. You are invited to attend the show (doors open at 9am) and then walk to the nearby El Cholo Restaurant for a group lunch.

No need to move your car and you can get back into the Show after lunch. Watch for a sign up announcement shortly. But you can buy your show tickets now and get the $20 Early Bird deal, with $1 of your ticket price coming back to the Club. Use this website to buy your tickets: www.showclix.com/event/the-classic-auto-show/ listing/tag/AHCofSoCal.

Volunteers Needed: It would be nice if we had a Club Member in the booth during all show hours to give people information about the show cars and the Club. If you are interested in spending an hour or two in the booth, please give me a call or drop me an email, with the date and times.

On another topic, member LeRae Philips is interested in attending the Conclave in Waco, Texas, July 9-14, but not too crazy about driving al that way in the summer heat. She is trying to find out if other members might be interested and if so, it might be possible to get a group deal with a commercial car hauler to move four to six cars and bring them back. If interested, contact LeRae at 4joyLP@gmail.com .
