With summer ebbing and fall weather soon to be in the air, we look forward to Monterey Healey Week in mid-September. Our club has a very respectable 48 registrants (cars) attending. Total attendance is expected to be around 200. The Golden Gate Healey club has been working hard on the event and it promises to be one to remember. After all, it is the 50th anniversary of the last Big Healey made...it is very unlikely many of us will be around to celebrate the 75th! We look forward to enjoying the beautiful Monterey peninsula and great roads, people and restaurants along the way. Don’t forget to bring your Rocker Cover Racer, as our club will run this event.

As I mentioned in last month’s column, it is time to begin planning for California Healey Week, 2018. We are now forming the planning committee...if you would be willing to serve the club in this capacity, please let me know. Potential locations include the desert (La Quinta, Palm Desert, Temecula, etc.), and the beach (Santa Barbara, Mission Bay, Del Mar, etc.). If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.

I recently attended the new Cars & Coffee in the San Clemente Outlet Stores parking lot. It is an excellent location, with plenty of parking, coffee shops and no residential areas close by. Hopefully, this location will be a good OC Cars & Coffee location going forward, as long as the rules are followed (no loud revving, burnouts or speeding). We’ve been kicked out of three locations so far... let’s hope this does not continue the trend! We are normally one of the sponsors of the Laguna Beach car show, on the first Sunday in October. Since they are still renovating the Festival of the Arts property on the north side of Laguna Canyon, we decided not to be a sponsor this year, thus there will not be an Austin Healey class in the show. However, our cars will be entered in the foreign car class, along with the other British, German, Italian cars, etc. and will be placed in the parking lot on the opposite side of Laguna Canyon road. I encourage members to attend this event...see www.lagunabeachcarshow.com/
