From the President

Steve Kirby | Published on 1/1/2021

Hello all you Healeyphiles, By the time you read this, another Christmas will have passed, I hope you all had a great Holiday.

On December 20, the Club held a Zoom Holiday Meeting. While the attendance was a little light, those participating did get to hear from your Board of Directors and visit a bit too. A report on the meeting can be found elsewhere in this edition.

I would like to especially recognize Chuck and Dawn Lakowski, this year’s winners of the Spirit Award. A tough year to accumulate event points, but the Laskowski’s managed to rack up a respectable 130 points to out distance runner up Dex Kaytis by ten.

Another highlight of the month was the Club’s contribution to the Marine Corp Toys for Tots Program. This year we delivered over two truckloads of toys for the Camp Pendleton Marine families, the most in recent memory. Thanks for your generosity.

Conclave planning continues. Registrations now sit at 346 guests and 155 cars! I think many people are still sitting on the sidelines waiting to see how the vaccine  thing goes. If confidence returns, we may well hit our max of 400! I would also like to mention that our Conclave Regalia Store is now open at www.conclave2021-regalia.com.

Thanks to Regalia chairperson, Kathy Scroggie, we have a wide selection of items on offer this year, including many “ladies only” fashions. Regardless of what happens with Conclave, your regalia orders will be filled. Also, there will be virtually no “sized” items on sale at the event, so please order via the online store. Even if you are not coming to Conclave, you are welcome to order and your merchandise will be shipped by mail at no extra charge.

A few other things of note: Member Reid Trummel is holding his Lewis and Clark Rally again this June.

This time featuring the Central Oregon Coast. A group is forming to caravan to Portland and return via a scenic inland route. Drop me a note if interested in more info.

Also, the 2021 Rendezvous scheduled for British Columbia has been cancelled, but there is talk of a mini-Rendezvous in Oregon, maybe in August. And finally, the Golden Gate Club is considering hosting Conclave 2022, perhaps in Central California. Let’s hope the vaccine makes all these great events possible and we get back to enjoying our cars, and each other, real soon.
