    Tour d’Orange New Year’s morning, 2015

The twelfth annual Tour d’Orange took place on a beautiful, clear but cold New Year’s Day.  As usual, cars began queuing up about 6AM near the intersection of Red Hill Ave. and Fischer Ave., just south of the 405 in Costa Mesa.  Coffee & donuts were provided and a band played on a truck platform.  A great way to start off a New Year!  Attending from the AHASC were Marty Hovivian, (with his red Jag), Ed Neumeyer, Tom Spangler, Jay Miller, Dexter Kaytis, Steve & Michele Dulson, Rob Henry and Henry Smith.

    An Era is Over

Cars & Coffee, the first and by far the largest informal car gathering in Irvine is ending after over eight years.  The “largest” has become its undoing. The organizers, a group of dedicated volunteers who devote many hours weekly to its operation, have announced that attendance has outgrown both the facility and their capacity to manage it.  This fact, plus the construction of apartments across the street from the exhibit lot that would lead to noise issues in the coming months, have led to the decision to put the event on hiatus.  What the future holds, no one knows.

Ferraris, Maseratis, Porsches, Cobras, Corvettes, Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Aston Martins, and even Austin Healeys.  That was just a partial collection of cars at this year’s Monterey Car Week, held from August 11th through August 17th.   This was definitely a testosterone filled week!

CHW 2014 is now history...and we made history!  82 registered parties, over 135 people and 70 cars attended.  The weather was beautiful and we had several great drives and tech sessions, along with the car show overlooking the ocean and Morro Rock.  Rocker Cover Racing was held on a deck overlooking the bay.  The Banquet was a great success with delicious food, a great club historical presentation by Bill Wilkman, car show and RCR awards and new officer introductions.  All-in-all, it was a great success.  Over 350 photos have been uploaded to the CHW 2014 gallery...see http://austin-healey.org/image/tid/80.
