Holiday Party 12/14

Thanks to the efforts of Club member and yacht owner George Merino and his wife Teresa, 60 members, spouses, family and  friends enjoyed a Holiday Party at the Shoreline Yacht Club in Long Beach.

Happy hour started at 2:00pm and as the guests arrived with their unwrapped toys and batteries which were deposited in the lobby, they then moved on to the festive bar to meet and greet.

Greg Aden and Corkey Holt were doing a brisk business selling regalia as people moved between the dining room and the bar. At 3:30 President Mike Biss called for everyone to take their seats and opened the meal with introductions by the members, who introduced their spouses and family and announced the type of Healey they owned. This was a big hit, especially when a few members forgot their spouse was with them or couldn’t remember her name. The meal was delicious as usual and paired well with the club provided wines. After the dessert was served Mike started the business part of the agenda. Greg gave an update on the future events, Anna Johansson covered the fiscal health of the club, Steve Kirby spoke about Healey week 2026 and new initiatives coming from the National Club.

The Editor of the club newsletter, Healey Motor News, Tim McNiff spoke next thanking his correspondents and asking for more participation on event articles. Tim then spoke about the Spirit Award and presented the Bill Barnett Memorial Award to the 2025 points winner, Phil Caliva. Phil has been presented with the trophy five times in the last ten years, even though he has been top points getter eight of those ten years. No consecutive awards per the rules.

With that the evening was complete, everyone saying their goodbyes and sending wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday to one and all.
