Brits at Belmont Shore 4/1

I only live about 37 miles from Belmont Veteran Memorial Pier, but it can take 2 hours to get there if I don’t leave before rush hour.
So, I decided to drive down to Long Beach early and visit Dawn Lakowski, Chuck’s wife. We had a lovely visit and reminisced about Chuck... it was exactly what we needed! I had called Bob Bolling on my way to Long Beach, and we planned to caravan to the pier together. It was a lovely drive through an area I was unfamiliar with. We arrived around 6:15pm to find Peter Hutchings and Dave and Jackie Deamer already parked and hanging out. There were two non-club members there as well. Doug in his 1960 red bugeye Sprite and Deke in his 1966 green Healey 3000 BJ8. Bob and I talked about the AHASC and told them they should join.
Fingers crossed! After paying top dollar for a tiny but tasty ice cream from the Ice Cream Truck, it turned cold and we were ready to take off. What a beautiful drive home with the sun setting and the breeze on my face.
Maybe next time I’ll stay for a beer with the other British car drivers.
