CHW 2026 Poker Run

Wow! Another fantastic turnout for the Healey Week Poker Run.

With over 55 cars participating ($5 ante each) along a route which included 4 stops starting at our hotel and ending at the Gaylord Pacific Resort in Chula Vista. At each stop a card was selected with a 5th card given out at the Reveal Party later that evening back at the hotel. The route followed Harbor Drive to the Tuna wharf and Fish Market for card two. Then onto the Coronado Bridge through Coronado past the Hotel Del Coronado and onto the Silver Strand with an exit at the State beach  entrance for card number three. Then back onto Silver Strand Blvd through Imperial Beach onto I-5 North with an exit at H Street over to the Gaylord Resort for card four. Back onto I-5 North to Hawthorn St exit and down to Harbor Dr, around the harbor to Rosecrans St and then onto Shelter island and back to the hotel.

I know a few of us came close to overheating while waiting for numerous trains @ a certain crossing along the route. But as far as I know, everyone made it through and was able to complete the entire Poker Run.

That evening at Happy Hour three community cards were picked. It was a wild frenzy to build your strongest poker hand using the 5 cards collected during the drive and the 3 common cards. After going down the list from the best hand to the least it turned out a Full House was the hand claimed by multiple participants.

Winners would be determined by the highest card in the hand. (And maybe the transfer of a little cash on the side. Oops, did I say that out loud). Poker Run Winners split a pot of $275. 50% went to first place= Phil Caliva and Nancy Caliva (AHASC)- $137. 30% to second place= Greg Cory (GGAHC)-$83.

20% to third place= Ginny Brown (GGAHC)- $55.

I want to give huge thank you to the AHCSD club. Laura and Terrey Leyland for all the help in creating the incredible route this year, and all the volunteers who helped and staffed the stops along the route, and of course, a huge shoutout to the Master of Ceremonies Mr. Steve Kirby.
