Before I get started on the Dana Point report, I want to thank fellow Club member John Hamo for making it possible for Alice and I to be at the show.
I had a couple of wiring issues on the Primrose Lady that were driving me crazy. John came to the house on a "hot” Saturday morning to spend hours sorting out the wiring while I helped 🙄 .
We headed out at 5:45 Sunday morning on the 405 to the 5 freeway to reach the meetup destination off Golden Lantern and PCH in Hennessey’s parking lot. We met up with Steve Heck in his 1960 White over Blue 3000 and our dear Club cousin , Richard Schnyder, in his beautiful Blue ‘74 TR6. Other members wanted a few more winks and weren’t there before we went over to get in line for entry to the show. Phil and Nancy Caliva called to let us know he was close by in his new, beautifully restored, 1934 Dodge Humpback panel truck. They were just a little behind us in line. We thought we were the first Healey’s in line but just ahead was Chris Savage in his highly modified Forest Green with Black trim 64 BJ8 and behind me was a beautiful ‘74 TR4 owned by Randy Rimmey, another delightful new British car owner who could easily make club cousin status too. Mike Biss and Anna Johansson and Mike’s brother ,Tom Biss, were there ahead of us on the east side of the street. They brought the Cobra, the MG TC and the hand bult Lotus. Phil caught up and got right in behind Steve Heck. Chris Savage was first of the Healeys in and during the show caught enough attention to win First Place for European Convertible.
Congratulations Chris! Leland Hill, in his British Racing Green BT7, came late to the meeting place on PCH and Golden Lantern and was parked further down the street Tim Weston from Topanga brought his BJ9 in lieu of his 59 Bugeye Sprite MK 1. Too hot a drive from so far away. Last but not least, John, and Diana, Hamo, my saviors who got my lights safe again, joined us for most of the day driving their BJ9 with their two fur babies in tow. The dogs made a great day even better.
All the cars in the show were beautiful to look at, and the Healeys and other British cars were well represented. Many members were missed but a great day was had by all!
